Hey everyone! I know I haven't been posting much lately and, truth be told, I've kind of been at a loss for interesting things to post. Well, it's not that I haven't had any ideas, but lately I haven't had much time to do the things I want to (but I am still hoping to get to them, eventually!) I've seen a few people do this 30 Day Song Challenge, and I thought it looked like such fun so I've decided I'm going to give it a try. Plus, since it's mostly about the songs I won't have to do much writing, which won't take very much time so it's just perfect for me right now. Besides, I think it will be fun! :-)
However, I'm going to do what I've seen others do before and not actually post one song each day-- instead, I'm going to do five a day. So, without further ado!
Day 1: Your Favorite Song
I don't have a favorite song: I have lots of favorite songs. : ) I love so many different kinds of music, so to pick one single favorite song is pretty much impossible! However, here are a few of my all-time favorites:
I told you I have a lot of favorites. : ) And those are just a few of them!
Day 2: Your Least Favorite Song
Um....really? I'm not sure if I actually have a least favorite song. Sure, there are a lot of songs I don't like, but I don't really focus on the ones I don't like so how am I supposed to know what my least favorite song is? : P
Day 3: A Song That Makes You Happy
Goodness, there are so many songs that make me happy! I think these questions are going to be trickier than I thought. : ) As you probably know, I love Irish/Scottish music, and the song "Loch Lomond" always makes me smile. Also there are so many of my favorite soundtracks that make me very happy. However, this is not supposed to be the song that makes me the happiest, it just says "a song". So with that in mind I am simply going to pick this song from the delightful movie The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain. :-)
Yes, I like soundtracks a lot. In fact most of my favorite music are soundtracks, so they will probably be a re-occuring theme in this challenge. : P
Day 4: A Song That Makes You Sad
All the songs from the Atonement soundtrack are pretty mournful, as well as the Jane Eyre soundtrack. However, there are few songs less mournful than this:
I cannot LISTEN to this without feeling like I'm about to cry. ;P
Here's another sad song sung by the mournful Iris DeMent in the movie Songcatcher. I've just recently learned this song and I absolutely love it. (The movie was pretty awful though-- while it did have a lot of beautiful music in it, I don't recommend it.)
Day 5: A Song That Reminds You Of Someone
Hmmm. There are a lot of songs that I associate with books that I've read and remind me of characters in books, but as for real people-- I sang this song at my cousin's wedding two years ago, so it always reminds me of him and his wife and their wedding.
It also reminds me of Horatio Hornblower, since we got the CD around the same time we watched the series for the first time... :-)
That's all for now, folks!
